One of the major issues impacting today’s youth and many adults is addiction to pornography. It relies entirely on fantasy and imaginary scenes that will never exist in anyone’s life, it’s forms vary from one person to another. It all depends on your own fantasy that pornography has created for you. Your entire brain will be occupied most of the time with continuous sexual images that on the long run could easily ruin your life. Muslims should have nothing to do with such a destructive sin. One of the most basic beliefs of Muslims is to be slaves to Allah SWT and not to our desires. Here are some tips to help those who are struggling with this problem and finally say goodbye for good to porn addiction.

Seek Allah’s help. You must always have hope that Allah is the All-Forgiving and Most Merciful. So seek help and guidance from Allah in your prayer and dua.

Daily 5x

Tell Someone that you trust. Tell him or her about the problem,how you are suffering. That could be a trusted friend, spouse, Imam or therapist.

Once

Lower the gaze. Eliminate all pornographic images from your computer, TV or phone. Replace those images with encouraging messages and reminders.

Once

Set small and achievable goals. Take small steps to stay porn-free for a day or week. With that success, set another small goal, and so on.

Once

Don't be upset and don't punish yourself. Expect that stopping this addiction will be difficult and you might relapse. So don't be too hard on yourself and never give up on change.

Develop new habits. Examine what times of the day or what types of activities trigger the desire to view pornography and make changes and adjustments. If the time is midnight,then be sure to go to bed early.

Once

Be honest in seeking the cure. Don’t lie to yourself or others. This will create further internal strife and humiliation.

Don’t be fooled by false quitting. False quitting is allowing yourself to engage in porn by saying it will be the last time. This is a trick by Shaytan to make excuses and move you away from recovery.

Once

Remind yourself of the negative consequences. We are never really alone. Allah is always watching and His angels are recording our every deed, good and bad. And each and every one of those deeds will be accounted for on the Day of Judgement. . Always remind yourself about the bad consequences that could happen. Allah is watching us.
